Rose Petal Dyed Scarf/Altar Cloth: Pink
Rose Petal Dyed Scarf/Altar Cloth: Pink
This one-of-a-kind handmade scarf was created using botanical dye from roses as part of the process I use for making rosaries.
The scarves are lovingly made using a slow, intentional process. First, I choose the roses, or they are given to me out of love, and I set them in one of my altars and they become part of my sacred space. The pink and white roses for this scarf were infused with love from women gathering in my studio in July 2024. They were grown in Cornwall, Devon and Wales.
I go on pilgrimages to collect sacred well water - for this scarf, I used water from the Snake and Lady Wells in Devon. When the flowers are ready, I blend the petals with the well water, before purifying the pulp using gentle heat.
Once cooled, I drain the pulp of liquid multiple times and it is this gorgeous pink liquid that I used to hand dye the scarf. The scarf then air dries to allow the colours to infuse into the fabric.
The scarf smells deliciously of roses and is infused with the energy of the divine feminine. It can be worn as a scarf or used as a prayer shawl or altar cloth.
NB: Please do not get the scarf wet as this might impact the natural colour of the dye. Spot clean only.
